Handmade Christmas Gift Tags

I had so much fun designing this item! I really wanted all of the tags to be imaginative and joyful. I love when I get a project and I get to start from scratch. Books are fun wanted a bulk Christmas tag box for their winter display. Here’s what I did!

tagbox featuresI found an old red velvet book cover and used that for the base of the box, I Then designed and old “Candy” label that I had printed on heavy vintage paper and taped to the box to add some texture and depth. I initially wanted to do a ribbon box, the rivets on the opening of the box were meant to make it easy to pull ribbon through to wrap your gifts. The buyer REALLY wanted ribbon, but it was too expensive so he was going to scrap it. I really love the look of raffia and thought that I could make them look like they belonged with this set. Raffia is so much cheaper! I wrapped a few gifts using the raffia and magazine paper, sheet music and bakers wrap to show the buyer along with a few of the tags I had already designed at that point and he loved it.

I was so relieved that it didn’t get cancelled because I was having so much fun designing the tags, just the way I wanted them. I sketched out many different designs, some just didn’t look right so I didn’t include them, here are a few designs that I decided to scrap at the end.

extrasThis is the final set of tags I ended up with, some of them didn’t turn out exactly as I planned but I still think they look good. I had a blast making them.

Owl Always Love you

This is a hanging photo quilt that I designed about a year ago, It’s amazing how big owls hit and they are still going strong. I really loved how I designed the lettering and the color palate.

The manufacturer didn’t get it quite right, as you can see in the final item. I still like it and hopefully I will have more time with the manufacturer to get the colors and patters right.

Scratch and Sniff

Just like every other child of the 1980’s I loved to collect scratch & sniff stickers!  I haven’t seen much scratch n’ sniff things around lately so I decided to invent my own variety. I came up with a brand name that I think is pretty funny (it’s being copyrighted right now…by me) I’m going to do a three set of scratch and sniff board books. Here is a sneak peak of the idea and design.
